Who We Are
Sydney Queer Muslims is a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing social support, education and resources to individuals and families in NSW.
The organisation is made up from a diverse range of volunteers, all united by the same faith.
We aspire to support and advocate for people of diverse sexualities , genders and intersex status to reconcile their sexual identity with their faith.
What We Do
We connect individuals to support services that provide counselling , crisis accommodation, referrals and health promotion
We conduct workshops on spirituality, sex education, sexuality and gender identity
We organise social support groups, monthly meetings.
We advocate for a more cultural sensitive services for Muslims of diverse sexualities, genders and intersex status.
We engage in academic discussions relevant to current research on Muslims of diverse sexualities, genders and intersex status .
Our Vision
For people of diverse sexualities, genders and intersex status to have a healthy relationship with self, family and community where they are treated with respect and dignity.
Our aim is to promote acceptance and understanding within the Muslim and wider Queer and non-Queer communities.

We understand the importance and need for space to explore, express one’s diverse identities for a healthier mental and spiritual development.

We support people affected by violence and different forms of social injustices.

We understand the value of social cohesion and the importance of a sense of belonging and community.

Acknowledgement of Country and LGBT+ Elders
Sydney Queer Muslims Inc acknowledges the traditional owners of the land throughout New South Wales and Australia, and the Gadigal People of the Eora Nation who are the traditional owners of the land we work on. We pay our respects to their elders past, present and future, and we welcome all Aboriginal people visiting this website.
We also acknowledge our LGBT+ Elders, upon whose shoulders we stand on.
